Location: Wilkinson Building Level 0

"Works in Progress" showcases the creative processes within the Pratt community. From chalkboard scribbles to CAD files to architectural renderings, these images give us a peek into the design and/or build process. See them on the 0 level of the Wilkinson building.

Above: Greg Twiss and Dean Hering (MEM) design and produce musical combs. Running your finger down the teeth of the comb plays a tune: the length of the tooth determines the note and the number of teeth determine the duration of that note.  Dean designed and 3D printed the first Here Combs the Bride comb as a wedding favor for his daughter’s wedding. Based on the rousing response of the wedding guests, he patented the musical comb in 2017. Greg and Dean donate their Old McDonald Had a Farm musical comb to the Ronald McDonald House of Durham and Wake so that children going to the hospital will have something to make them smile. The finished comb is displayed in the Zero Gallery alongside its manufacturing details— go give it a try!
